The Addiction

Sometimes I can’t bring myself to wake
To return to my world wearing a smile so fake.
And pour from my lips, words of love and advice,
Sugarcoated lullabies with a hint of spice.

Sometimes I don’t think I can handle today.
To see you with her makes my heart fray.
Singeing the stands to keep it from breaking,
I only add to my extensive aching.

Sometimes the tears are just too heavy,
With a burden so strong it breaks from the levy.
And my veins overflow with hatred and rage,
Jealousy so young yet fine-tuned with age.

And sometimes…

Sometimes I wake just to see you again,
Your sweet spoken words my one and only bane.
The addiction; I keep coming back for more,
Just to wake again so sore.
